Inter-parish Carnival fiesta, from St. Bernard to the Treme! Playlist below.

Big thanks to the Vanilla Gorilla and the Suntan Superman aka Frank andBoom of the Old Arabi Bar, their pal Jacob, Pizza Mike, and Big Chief Kevin Goodman for agreeing to be part of this madcap variety show (Reynard Green was detained at work on account of some sports, but we’ll get him back soon), Vanessa Niemann aka Gal Holiday and Lynn Drury for swooping in unexpectedly and adding to the merriment, Wade Burnham for always providing killer getaway music (The Super Sounds of Sunday, 11p-1a every week, folks), and Jim Smith (current title-holder for most on-air mentions in the category of undersung New Orleans musicalheroes) with the lovely Angelo for graciously hosting the after-party.

[Speaking of Checkpoint Charlie’s, it’s Monday, so that means this evening brings New Orleans best-kept culinary secret. (Yes, I did write “Checkpoint’s”, “culinary”, and “best” in the same sentence, and no, I’m not drunk.) Heather Koehler behind the bar and her man Damien serving up the most delicious gourmet tacos, nachos, donuts, etc imaginable. I don’t want to tell you this because I’d rather just have a nice chat with Linda Cassidy and Domenic Fusca without you interrupting me, but “yes but we need money, Laura.” (Do yourself a favor!)]

Tune in next week, 102.3 WHIV FM! We had such fun last time, so it’s Singer-Songwriter Night Pt. Deux, with Kenny Claiborne, Andre Lovett, Jamie Vessels, Tasche de la Rocha, and Jon Hatchett.
