Judy Hill & co. “My Babe” Clip!

Exciting news- our live album will officially be a double album!! All sorts of additional music and content TBA. Hear hear!

Here–hear a sneak peek of one of my favorite tracks, Judy Hill belting out the Little Walter classic “My Babe”, backed up by Jamey St. Pierre, Ted Hefko, Bob Worth, Nervous Duane, and Rory Collins. This was a totally impromptu collaboration, which is why I love it so much… a lot of these folks had just met that night. And this clip is just a tease, so if you want to hear the rest of Ted’s “guitar” solo, you’ll have to get the album 😉

MM&BRH BACK on Air- new time slot!

Good evening, faithful readers! We will be back on air TOMORROW, during our new time slot, 7-9pm every Thursday. Hurray! Featuring special guest Jim Smith (home of the Checkpoint’s open mic, which is on Sundays and always prevented his attending last season), long-time good time musician favorites & lurkers Natasha Sanchez, Emily Jarand, & more, and my high school friend, Nick Danger! Tune in, tune up, Toonsis, the driving cat.

MM&BRH Highlights CD *actually* in the works now!

I’ve been saying I’m going to do this for awhile, but (festering in Boston, freezing my ass off, doing mindless labor where I can listen to things at the same time) I’ve finally started/nearly finished going through the radio show recordings! (The ones that I have. 50% of them.)

So much nostalgia. So many amazing tracks. Such objectively-witty banter. Myself being painfully awkward. I’ve laughed and cried several times. I really want to thank everyone that came out and made Sunday nights so fun. The music and the banter seems to capture a real moment in New Orleans… I won’t go as far to say “history”, but everything is history I suppose. (“MM&BRH High Lights: The Champagne of History”)

Satellite Episode!

Not really, but I am guesting on my baby sister’s Monday night show on KUSF 90.3 FM San Francisco tonight at 7:30 pm west coast time. Stream hurrrr….

Pic from the Five Finger Tavern in Inyokern, CA last March (although this was also the vibe of our Thanksgiving…) Little town that smelt of cat piss and sadness and chemicals from whatever plant was nearby–a few straggly travelers and meth partakers and sad military men lurking about–but the stars were so heartbreakingly beautiful. This pub (and that pub-tendress) were definitely the only games in town. Also it was that fellow on the right’s birthday.
